“John, Focus is not only about editing images. It's a place for friendly discussion about images too. Alternatively, you could upload the images to the (inappropriately named) Showcase section of the website and ask for comments there.”

“I submitted 3 pictures to Focus Live, but in hindsight I think they should be left out as they are not really what I think Focus is about.  One of the pictures I submitted was only to get opinions about whether the image works at all given the subtlety of the message (you'd have to look very closely to see what I mean) and the other two are of two night scenes with the moon in different positions and I wondered which of the two people think is better.  I am not looking for input to editing any of the images so I suspect this sort of opinion seeking is outside the scope of the Focus sessions.  And, I am not looking to put them in a competition anyway. Apologies. AND, by the way, I will not be able to come to the Tythings until 20:30 (again).”

“Derek has contacted SPA about Denoise and received the followingDerekThis has very recently become unclear!In my current version 14.5.1   denoise has become integrated into the main 'detail' editing panel. The previous iteration certainly used generative AI.  'Manual' noise reduction is definitely safe.Will publish further details when all becomes clear.”

“I believe the group that wrote this are effectively trying to draw a line in the sand, declaring that no further progress in photo editing should be allowed. You could call them the King Cnut of the photographic world!Rather than saying no AI should be allowed, we ought to be having a discussion about the image itself – and whether what is produced remains true to it.”

“Interesting read - it goes much further than I expected and effectively means that Topaz Denoise as well as Photoshop 'remove' and neural filters are banned. I can see the rationale but no idea how this could ever be enforced.”

“Good luck any club trying to enforce this, the AI distraction / object remove tool is with us now. Also how crazy, they seam to be saying that AI noise reduction whether Lightroom or Topaz is not allowed. ”
